QuickBooks: How to Find Your Sales Account Name

  • Updated

Requirements

The DistributorCentral QuickBooks Export/Import process requires that you have an Accounts Receivable, Sales, and Sales Tax Payable to DC account setup within QuickBooks. If you are exporting Purchase Orders to Suppliers, you must have Purchase Orders enabled within QuickBooks as well.

Please note:
DistributorCentral uses default account names that will likely match your account names in QuickBooks, however these account names could've changed to meet your accountant's needs. If you encounter an error when importing DC files into QuickBooks, please check that you are using the correct account names found in your QuickBooks account

Follow these steps to find the account name for your Sales Account (Invoice line items) and Sales Account (Items added to item list):

  1. In QuickBooks, click Lists in the top menuquickbooks-1.png

  2. Choose Chart of Accounts

  3. Under the Type column, find Incomequickbooks-3.png

  4. If you have more than one Income account type, you will need to find the one that you use to record sales

  5. When you've found Income in the Type column, move left along that row to the Name column to find the Account Name to be used for your Sales Account (Invoice line items) and Sales Account (Items added to item list) fields in the DC QuickBooks export settings
(The name has to entered into the DC QuickBooks export field exactly as shown here)
